Chair Messrs Bainbridge Clayton Davies Kelly Wade Whitford Wilson Investigation Mr. Leitch the Architect was in attendance of a/cs with with plans, specifications &c. Mr. Leitch The Chairman, Dr. Whitford, having pointed out that the tenders given by Messrs Francis Morton & Co. & Bullen Bros. had been greatly exceeded & that the estimated cost of the work to be done by Mr. Leitch had also been considerably exceeded, the total excesses being roughly £6000. Mr. Leitch was asked what explanation he had to offer. The explanation offered by Mr. Leitch was as follows:- I (A) As to the Steelwork, the difference in the a/c of Mess. Fcs. Morton & Co. Ltd. amounting to a checked & reduced amount of £1600 is due in the first place to the extension of the front portion of the Directors Pavilion, increasing the accommodation of the upper deck for some 600 persons and the lower deck for some 1200 persons. This alteration in the plan was decided upon by the Directors, subsequently to Messrs Mortons tender having been accepted.
