Dear Sir,—
At the request of the Southern League,
your Management Committee met representa-
tives of the Southern League in conference, in
London, on Monday, the 8th inst.
The representatives of the Southern League
submitted certain proposals for the amalgama-
tion of the two Leagues, which can be briefly
set forth as follows :—
1. The two Leagues to be amalgamated.
2. No entrance fees to be paid by the
Southern League.
3. No transfer fees to be paid for players
now playing for Southern League Clubs, but
such players to be held jointly by their old
Football League Club, and their present
Southern League Club.
4. The combined League to consist of 60
clubs, divided as follows:—
(a) The First Division to consist of the
20 clubs entitled to such position after this
season's competition ends.
(b) The Second Division to consist of
40 clubs, divided into two sections—the
Northern Section to comprise the 20 most
northerly clubs, and the Southern Section
the 20 most southerly clubs.
