SUGGESTED RE-ORGANISATION OF TRAINING, COACHING AND MATCH ARRANGEMENTS FOR SEASON 1957-58. It is my opinion that all matters relevant to the welfare, conduct, and performance of all teams, Junior and Senior, should be THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE B. PAS THROUGH THE PLAYING Committee. executed by members of our permanent staff. By this method there will be a consistency and continuity about the development and improvement of our signed players, there will also be a permanency regarding the tactics and strategy employed by each team. There must also be a constancy about team supervision, in other words whatever official may be in charge of a team, he should accompany that team throughout its junior career. e. g. Official X would commence with Junior Team C, during a particular season, the following season he would accompany the retained players of this team together with whatever new signings were required to comprise Junior Team B. In this way there would be a steady flow of promotion for those players who merited it and a discarding of material which we considered was unsuitable. It would also provide an incentive for the official in charge and make his work more objective, and all the time there would be the personal touch which is so essential in the relationship between Club and player. The teams affected by this system, of course, would only be the Junior Teams. i. e. 'A', 'B', 'C', as there would be permanency in the 1st XI and reserve team. Only in the 1st XI would there be two officials to accompany the players, all other teams would be the responsibility of one man only. My recommended allocation of duties for season 1957-58 is:- Team Official i/c ---- ------------ 1st XI I. C. Buchan - H. Wright Reserve XI G. Watson 'A' Team S. BENTHAM H. R. Pickering or H. Cooke Jnr. 'B' Team G. THOMPSON S. Bentham 'C' Team F. BLUNDELL G. Thompson or H. Cooke Jnr. By this method the training and coaching of all players would become the direct responsibility of the officials in charge of the team on match days, as far as is humanly possible. e. g. Wright will have a group of 1st team players, Watson will have a group of 2nd team player, and Bentham will have all the young pros during full-time training. Similarly on a Tuesday and Thursday evening, the supervision will be conducted by the official in charge of the team.
