21 [Meeting held on November 16, 1943 at Exchange Hotel, Liverpool] Present:- Messrs W. C. Gibbins (Chair), E. Green, C. S. Baxter, M. D., G. Evans, J. P., W. R. Williams, R. R. Turnbull, R. E. Searle, C. C., & Secy. Minutes of Meeting of the 2nd inst., were read & confirmed. Directors to Crewe Messrs E. Green, G. Evans, W. R. Williams, R. R. Turnbull & R. E. Searle. Gordon Smith Mr. R. E. Searle gave an excellent report of this outside right, who was 5'10" & 11½ st. He said that he was strong & fast, and seemed to be a little over-anxious, but even so was a great footballer. J. R. Thomson's letter was read in which he urged that this player was of the Everton class. It was agreed that the Secretary attend Hibernian's match v Rangers on the 27th inst., & open conversations with the Hibs Club with regard to the possibility of arrangements being made to secure the player's services after the War's end. Mathie (Motherwell) Mr. Searle also stated that this player, at outside left, had been brilliant. Ministry of Food Secy. reported that the basement of the Gwladys St. Stand had been requisitioned by the Ministry as from Nov. 5, 1943.
