Management Committee; all Football League
Clubs; the Press; & the Army Football Association.
Secretary reported receipt of a letter
from the Football Association asking for our explan-
ation of the reason for playing Mercer on Saturday, the
13th inst, Contrary to their instruction; & that he
had replied detailing the Chairman's telephone
conversations with Mercer late on Friday evening.
The Chairman read a series of
5 Articles published in the Daily Sketch. It
was resolved that he & the Secretary should
interview the Club's Solicitor, with the view
of taking Council's advice on this matter.
Football League Secretary reported that we had
(War) Cup been drawn to play Preston North End in the 1st Round.
Lancashire F. A. Cup It was agreed that on the suggest-
ion of the Lancashire F. A. Council, who had conferred
with the Football Association on the matter, we
pay a bonus to our players in the Final of £1 for a win,
& 10/- for a draw.
Transfer of Shares Following transfer was approved:-
Shares Nod. 1696 to 1698 from G. Clarkson Jnr. to W. R. Williams
