Laidman The Chairman reported his telephone conversation with Mr. G. Evans who had been watching this player & had formed a very good opinion of him. Mr. A. Roberts of the Wigan Club attended, & informed the Board Members present that his Club would accept £500 for the transfer of the player. It was agreed to offer £400, but after com- municating with his Club, Mr. Roberts stated that they were not prepared to part under £500 & eventually it was agreed to clinch the deal at this price.
