Reports re Players Mr E Green reported that Massie RH Scotland was
Ireland v Scotland a good player, clever, fair build & good enough
for any team. Johnstone C.H. Scotland, was dominating
6'.1" & practically played 3rd back, not quite as good as
Gee. King OL Scotland was small but weightier
than Lewis of Swansea, a splendid player, except that
he fed his inside man rather too much. Priestley
IR Ireland he recommended he be left out of
consideration.
Derby County players He also reported that he would to see more
of Barker C.H. who was not too much in the
picture v Blackburn Rovers before he could give
a decided opinion of him, but Crookes OR was
excellent & Duncan OL very good.
Walker (St Mirren) Mr J Fare reported that this player was typically
Scottish in style, more of a defender than attacker
but thought he was not quite so good as Nelson (PNE)
McPhail (Clyde) Mr H Hart stated that this RH was a strong
hard player but could not recommend him.
Whatmough & Mr T Fleetwood reported that the former
Webster (Bradford C) had played poorly & considered he was not
good enough for us, but the latter was a clever
player.
Butler (Stalybridge) Mr T Kelly reported that this player was
a promising outside right.
Chester v Stockport County Messrs W C Gibbins & Secy stated that they did
not consider any of these teams players good
enough for us at present but that Jenkinson was
promising, but rather poor in the air.
Mercer J. Messrs W C Gibbins & Geo Evans reported that
