(3) In the early days a person was in the habit of selling
refreshments on the ground without permission, so I stipulated
that no refreshments be sold without my consent.
(4) The Committee wanted to open gates, which I thought might
be an annoyance to the residents of Anfield Road so I stipulated
that they were not to interfere with the boundary walls without
my consent.
(5) All the old members of the Committee knew when the
ground was purchased that the north side was the centre of
a proposed road, which Mr. Orrell has power to make at any
time, at our joint expense; therefore any erections that have
been put up on that side were put up on suffrance with
the knowledge of the then Committee.
I told the deputation when they waited on me, that so long as
football was played on the ground I would not interfere
& if at any time they could not pay me my maximum rent
they were to pay me what they could. I have not interfered.
It is Mr. Orrell & some members of the Committee who have
during the non playing Season. I have had to finance the Club
as follows- £
1886 - 87 advanced about 180
1887 - 88 - - 350 without any security
1888 - 89 - - 1200
1889 - 90 - - 600
This year none but thanks to the thousands of spectators who
have paid their money to witness the game it has all been repaid.

" 1889 - 90 - 250 maximum.
