10 Forshaw Secy. reported having asked the L'pool Club if they were prepared to part with this player & the result was an interview with the L'pool club after our match today at which it was agreed to obtain this player at a fee of £3750 & an engagement up to 5th May 1928 at limit wage & £10 signing on bonus. This action was confirmed. McPhaill & Weldon Messrs A. Coffey & Secy. reported on their visit to Airdrie & that McPhaill was not prepared to sign & that the club were not prepared to part with Weldon. It was decided that Secy. proceed again to Airdrie to endeavour to obtain the services of either of them at figure up to £6000 for McPhaill & up to £4000 for Weldon. as agreed on 22nd ult. Blyth Spartans Mr. J. Fare gave an excellent report v of Wilkinson (I.L.) & fair of Easton (I.R.) of Howdon B. L. Blyth, but stated that Simpson (Howdon) was not good enough. Mr. W. Laine also sent a similar report. Glenn (Bristol C.) Mr. J. Elliott stated that owing to the terrible ground conditions he was not prepared to offer a report on this players ability. Wigan Borough Secy. gave a good report of Pegg v Lincoln City (O.L.) of Lincoln City. Gibson (Hamilton) Mr. J. Weir reproted unfavorably of this player. Notts. County F.C. Decided to ask this club £1500 for Raitt and enquire price required for Barry (O.L.) or if they would entertain an exchange. Stockport County F.C. Letter read offering us Johnston (I.L.) for £2500, and asking if we were prepared to part with Bain. No action taken re former & decided not to part with latter.
