Halsall The Secretary reported his conversations with Clennell, Thompson and Grenyer and it was resolved that the selection of the team for tomorrow be reconsidered and it was afterwards resolved that the team selected be:- Fern Thompson Simpson Brown Fleetwood Grenyer. and with reference to the forwards, that Harrison, Clennell, Rigsby and Kirsopp be played and that it be left to Mr. Banks and the Secretary to fill the remaining position. That he had received a visit from the Secretary of the National Amalgamated Society of Painters and Decorators complaining that Messrs Burnand were not paying the standard rate of wages nor observing the Rules of the Federation in other respects. The Secretary was instructed to point out to Mr. Burnand the subject matter of their complaint and to inform him that Whilst we had no desire to interfere in the matter, but would expect him to carry out the terms of his contract with us, we would demur at the possibility of the action complained of reflecting in any way upon the Club who depended so largely on public support.
