At the end of the paragraph add: "Clubs will be responsible for
their officials."
At the end of the paragraph dealing with time and place of
payment, add: "within a reasonable time after the conclusion of
the match."
These were sanctioned.
RULE 31.
The Management Committee's proposal to add the following
new Rule was carried:—
"All professional players who are re-engaged or transferred shall
forfeit the proportion of wages from the 1st day of May, 1915, until
the players come up for training for season 1915-16. New players
shall not be signed on under a contract whereby wages are payable
before training commences.
"The date fixed for players to come up for training shall not be
earlier than the 2nd day of August, 1915.
"The amount of wages payable during the nine months from the
2nd day of August, 1915, to the 30th day of April, 1916, shall not
exceed 75% of the amount which the player could have received for
the whole season under Rule 7 of the League prior to its alteration
at the Special General Meeting on 29th day of March, 1915.
"Any payment in contravention of this Rule will be regarded
as an illegal payment and punishable under Rule 12."
The new form of agreement and notice of termination of contract
was submitted and approved —
That the club shall have the right to terminate this
Agreement on any reasonable ground on giving to the player
twenty-eight days notice thereof. Such notice shall be in
writing and shall specify the reason for same being given,
and shall also set forth the rights of appeal to which the
player is entitled under the Rules of the Football League
and the Rules of the Football Association.
The player on joining His Majesty's service for any
purpose in connection with the present War shall have the
right at any time to ask the Club to cancel his Agreement,
and the same shall be immediately cancelled without prejudice
to the rights of the club to retain the player as a registered
player of the club.
This Agreement and the terms and conditions thereof
shall be, as to its suspension and termination, subject to the
Rules of the Football Association and the Rules of the
Football League and to any action which may be taken by
the Council of the Football Association or any deputed
Committee, and in any proceedings by the player against
the club, it shall be a sufficient and complete defence and
answer by, and on the part of the club, that such suspension
or termination hereof is due to the action of the Football
Association, the Football League, or the Council or Manage-
ment Committee thereof respectively, or any Sub-Committee
thereof to whom the power may be delegated.
