The Secretary read a letter from Aston Villa F.C.
re compensation in which they stated that their
average gate this season was £400 and that
the receipts of the postponed match on Wednesday
last were £131.
The Secretary explained the principles governing
the Management Committee's actions in setting
claims of this character and stated that they
were on the basis of an equal division of the loss
between the two competing Clubs and that on
the figures submitted the loss would appear to be
£269 and that Aston Villa and ourselves would
share equally in that loss, so that the sum of
£134:10:0 would be due from us to them.
The Secretary was instructed to ascertain the correctness
of his statement and afterwards offer to settle with
Aston Villa on that basis.
The Secretary reported that in response to a request
from Jefferis he had sent him down to consult
Dr. Broad re his injured knee. Dr. Baxter
reported his conversation with Dr. Broad thereon
and that Dr. Broad's opinion was that the knee
should be operated upon, but Dr. Baxter's
suggestion that a third opinion be taken was
accepted and the matter left in Dr. Baxter's hands
for arrangement.
