Mrs. Williams Dr. Baxter presented a form of application for a grant
from the Benevolent Fund of the F.A. for completion
and signature by Mrs. Williams and stated that the
grant would be the sum of Ten guineas. It was
decided that this sum should be similarly applied
as the grant from the Everton Club.
The Secretary reported that the "Councillor Walker
Charity Cup Competition" was not applied with the
Local Association.
The engagement of J. P. Brown on a month's trial
at 30/- per week and his expenses to and from
Buckinghamshire was confirmed and cheque for £5
the fee required by Stoke F.C. for such trial be sent to
them.
Messrs Kirkwood & Coffey reported their visit to Bury
but that these was nothing to suit us.
John Fare reported his visit to Tottenham, that Douglas
outside right of Leicester Fosse F.C. commenced well but
did not maintain his form and he did not consider
that he would be suitable for us.
That Mortimer the Fosse inside left was their best
forward but considered him also unsuitable.
On his visit to the Burnley v Rovers match John Fare
reported that Clennel and Orr the inside left and
right of Blackburn Rovers were quite good enough for
a first League team and that the former in his
opinion was not equalled by any of our inside
forwards. The Secretary was instructed to endeavour
to secure his transfer with powers up to £1200.
