The Secretary read a letter from Mrs. Williams the
widow of our former player William Williams
appealing for assistance stating that she had
been left destitute with four very young children
and that she was at present suffering with
blood poisoning.
It was resolved that the Secretary send a donation
of 10/- and in the meantime inquiries were to be
made and if proved satisfactory, nine further
weekly instalments of 10/- each be sent to her.
Johnston The Secretary read a letter from the Secretary of
the Manchester Royal Infirmary with regard to
Lance Johnston and it was resolved that they
be informed that we are prepared to pay £1 per
week towards Johnston's maintenance during
his stay at the Infirmary.
Chedgzoy The Secretary reported that Mrs. Chedgzoy had
left a message intimating that she was removing
her husband from the Infirmary on Saturday
and that he had written to her pointing out
the grave risk involved in his premature
removal and that the Club could accept no
responsibility for any complications that might
arise through such premature removal. The
Secretary's action was confirmed.
The Secretary read a letter from Accrington
Stanley recommending their right half back
J. Yates, 21 years of age, 5ft. 9½in height and
