214 [Emergency Meeting of Directors held at the Bradford Hotel, December 5th 1913] Present W. R. Clayton Esq. (Chair) Messrs Allman Davies Kelly Wright The Chairman explained that he had convened the meeting for the purpose of finally considering the question of the engagement of Fern as it appeared to him that Lincoln City would not reduce the price placed upon his transfer £1500, and it was resolved that an offer of £1500 be made to them and the Secretary was instructed to proceed to Worksop to effect his engagement and to place him in the team v Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow. The Secretary reported that he had been in telephonic communication with Dr. Baxter and Mr. Kirkwood and had seen Mr. Green and that these three Directors were in favour of Fern's engagement. Bowser The Secretary reported that he had a telephonic communication from West Bromwich this morning to the effect that they would be prepared to transfer Bowser to us in exchange for an inside forward preferably Jefferis and a sum of money.
