George Camsell of Middlesbrough had scored 59 goals in 1926/27 - the most scored in a season. With one match left to play in the 1927/28 season Dean's tally was 57. Hoping to see him break the record, 60,000 fans filled Goodison on 5 May 1928. Dean obliged with a hat-trick in a 3-3 draw against Arsenal. His record of 60 goals in a season still stands today.
