The first match at Goodison was a friendly against Bolton Wanderers on 1 September 1892. Everton won 4-2. One of Everton's biggest wins of the season was 6-0 against Newton Heath on 24 September. The team obviously settled at Goodison. In 1892-93 Everton finished a creditable 3rd in the League and were runners-up in the F.A. Cup.
