Bert Freeman was Everton's hero of the tour. He amazed and overwhelmed the opposition with his skilful play. In a letter home Freeman wrote that the players were enjoying the sights, particularly on a stopover in Rio de Janeiro, but they complained about the French food at one hotel. On the return trip to Rio Val Harris acquired a parrot as a souvenir!
