Daniel Kirkwood - The Director Years

Kirkwood continued to scout until weeks before his death. In September 1928 on a trip to Chesterfield he recognised the talents of George Beeson who later played for Sheffield Wednesday and England, and Charlie Bicknell who moved to Bradford City then West Ham. Kirkwood was due to accompany John Fare and Jack McGill to Barnsley in December 1928, but only they reported back. He was evidently ill.
