Displays from The Everton Collection exhibition were on show in Stanley Park's Isla Gladstone conservatory last week. The displays were part of an event organised by Liverpool City Council to celebrate William Gladstone's bicentennial.

Around 200 local residents turned out for the event, which included a tea dance and history talks from Steve Binns and Peter Lupson.

Everton Collection displays relating to Anfield and Goodison were on show in the magnificent Isla Gladstone conservatory. The displays proved a huge hit in the park where it all began!

The event was the brainchild of Liverpool City Council's executive member for tourism, Cllr Gary Millar. He said: "I am fully aware of the tremendous history in all Liverpool's neigbourhoods, and how this can be such a driver for leisure and tourism.

"The event has a tea dance theme, but is also about celebrating local history and providing local information. We are also bringing some exhibits from the city centre out to the event, so local people can experience them on their doorstep."
