Although John Houlding was no longer on
the Everton Committee he refused to let
control of the Club slip out of his grasp easily.
George Mahon, on the other hand, was keen
for the Club to make a fresh start and put his ideas about running Everton into practice.
He and the other directors were determined
make Goodison a ground that Everton could
be proud of.
